Abstract

Small and medium enterprises are becoming increasingly important for the creation and development of a modern, dynamic, and knowledge-based economy. The aim of this article is to identify the factors constraining of innovation performance of small and medium enterprises (SME) in Brunei Darussalam. Cross- sectional analysis was performed when doing the analysis. A total number of 169 SMEs owners and managers throughout Brunei Darussalam are chosen as the sample for this study. Three hypotheses were proposed regarding SMEs performance. The impact of constraints to innovation is measured on five-point scale. The results indicated that factors on innovation performance was positively and significantly related to SME performance. The study concludes with a discussion on theoretical and practical implications and as well as made recommendations and drew suggestions for future research to enhance the performance of public sector agencies.
